An Indian Crime Epic for Fans of The Godfather Trilogy

Novel Suspects Featured Image Gangs of Wassypur TVMake of this what you will, but literally anything that could be described as a “sprawling crime epic” immediately captures 100% of my attention. The brilliant five-hour Indian film Gangs of Wasseypur is a grade-A entry in that particular genre.

Set on the mean streets of Dhanbad, India, this gritty, multi-generational saga follows the violent war between two Mafia Raj crime families across decades of brutal conflict and is squarely in the vein of, yes, The Godfather Trilogy, and Goodfellas, with a healthy dose of City of God and Sam Peckinpah for good measure.

There are a ton of characters, a ton of plot twists, betrayals, tension, blood, revenge, politics, poor decision making. It has everything! Binge it. Start watching Gangs of Wasseypur or discover more great movies and TV.
