Closely associated with the Romantic movement, John William Polidori is considered by many to be the creator of vampire fiction. His 1819 short story, ‘The Vampyre’, is widely accepted as the first vampire story ever written. Many of the earliest and most interesting vampire stories, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive.
